Submitted by scott.buck on

A group of ninth graders at Diamond Fork Junior High School recently volunteered to tutor their seventh grade peers in reading.  These tutors meet with their seventh grade students twice a week during e-time, the school's remediation and enrichment period, which is held during the school day.  The tutors help these readers improve their comprehension, fluency, and writing with a lot of guided practice.

Character Education at DFJHS

Character Education students at Diamond Fork Junior High School have been busy.  Every Friday of the school year this class of 36 seventh graders collects hundreds of pounds of used paper to recycle.  After visiting every room in this school of 1,200 students, the used paper is then hauled to the back parking lot and deposited into the recycling bins.  This recycled paper is purchased by a recycling company, which generates over $300 a year.

On Tuesday, October 9th seventh grade students at Diamond Fork Junor High enjoyed an activity they earned through their excellent academic achievement.  The school held a competition among the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students during the first-half of term 1.  The grade level that had the lowest percentage of students with the academic grades of D or F, or citizenship grades of N (needs improvement) or U (unsatisfactory), would win an activity at Planet Play in Salt Lake.
