Crystal Apple Award Winner Maria Lewis

Maria Lewis, health teacher and yearbook advisor at Diamond Fork Junior High School, was honored by her fellow faculty members as this year's winner of the Crystal Apple Award.  Maria has taught at Diamond Fork since the school's opening in 1997.  Maria is known for her dedication to her students and her amazingly positive demeanor.  A fellow teacher observed, "Maria is always positive and upbeat.  No matter what challenges she is facing away from school she is always positive, smiling and a fun to be around.

Mock Supreme Court

Miss Anderson’s English class held a mock Supreme Court regarding the
case of T.L.O. vs New Jersey that took place in 1985. The case
concerned the search and seizure of a girl’s bag who had been smoking
in a restroom at the high school. Six students played the role of
lawyers, and there were nine justices and a handful of court
reporters. Many arguments were brought up from both sides about

DFJHS Beauty and the Beast

Students from Diamond Fork Junior High School's drama department
recently performed Beauty and the Beast.  After months of hard work
and diligent preparation the play went off perfectly. Many students

DFJHS Ice Skating

Recently students at Diamond Fork Junior High were rewarded for their
good grades by attending an ice skating field trip at Peaks Ice Arena
during Diamond Back Day.  Diamond Back Day is a unique reward system
where once every term students get to attend a field trip if they have
good citizenship and academic grades.  Each term features a different

DFJHS Honor Society

Diamond Fork Junior High School’s National Junior Honor Society has
been working on a service project since the beginning of January.
They have been cutting plastic grocery bags into strips and sending
them to mothers in Africa to crochet into baskets.  Honor Society
member Kiera Barton reported, “We fold regular white plastic grocery
bags a certain way and then cut them into 1-inch strips.  We roll them

Diamond Fork Jr. High Students Bring Home the Gold from Regional Science Olympiad

Competing in Science Olympiad events such as "Storm the Castle" (trebuchet), "Reach for the Stars" (astronomy), "Microbe Mission," and more, DFJHS students demonstrated their science knowledge and abilities on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at the regional competition held at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah.

Diamond Fork Jr. High students made frequent appearances on the winners' podium. In fact, every student on the team earned at least one medal! The DFJHS team also received the sportsmanship award and is coached by science teacher Sharon Myia.

DFJHS Character Education

Character Education students at Diamond Fork Junior High School have been busy.  Every Friday of the school year this class of 33 seventh graders collects hundreds of pounds of used paper to recycle.  After visiting each room in this school of over 1,400 students, the used paper is then hauled to the back parking lot and deposited into the recycling bin.  This recycled paper is purchased by a recycling company, which generates over $300 a year.
 

DFJHS Freshman Soccer

Fall has arrived and the freshman girl soccer players at Diamond Fork Junior High are busy representing their high school teams.  Seven girls from DFJHS play for the Spanish Fork High School soccer team, and four girls from DFJHS play for the Maple Mountain High School soccer team.  The SFHS players are Camilla Chaparro, Shaniece Novak, Xakoi Pace, Dani Perkins, Kristi Taylor, Shelby Thomas, and Brenda Vargas. The MMHS players are Janae Warren, Katie Hammer, Lora Kendell, and Tessa Weight.

Girls Basketball

The Lady Diamondbacks of Diamond Fork Junior High School have had an amazing year in basketball. After loosing their first game by quite a large margin, the Lady Diamondbacks knew they had their work cut out for them this season. They did not get discouraged, but instead squared their shoulders, kept their chins high, and made determination their number one attribute. As the season progressed, the Lady Diamondbacks worked hard and began to see the fruits of their labors as they began defeating teams. This only fueled their determination more.
