9th Graders in Mrs. Gardner and Ms. Reese's World Civ classes were treated with an awesome guest speaker on Wednesday.  Mustapha El Akkari, Muslim, businessman, and former basketball star spoke with students about what it means to be a Muslim and informed students on the religion of Islam. Akkari came to the U.S alone as a 16 year old to play basketball. He played high school basketball in Houston and college basketball at BYU-Hawaii. Akkari became the first non-LDS Student Body President of BYU-Hawaii as a Senior at the University. He is currently a director at the Utah Valley Islamic center and works at Nuskin. Akkari told about his life and took questions about Islam, students learned a lot about the diveristy of those living around us. Special thanks to Ms. Reese and Mrs. Gardner for arraging Mr. Akkari to visit Diamond Fork.
