Diamond Fork Parents,
Fourth term is upon us as we wind down from the school musical and next year’s school registrations and gear up for spring sports, musical performances, Diamondback Days, and academic achievements. Teachers continue to prepare students to take their knowledge to the next level by teaching skills such as inference, comparing and contrasting, cause and effect, and evaluation embedded within math, science, PE, health and social studies lessons.
Our teachers know that students today are preparing for jobs and careers. “According to the U.S. Department of Labor, 65% of today’s grade school kids will end up at a job that hasn't been invented yet.” (www.dol.gov) That is a tall order for anyone to fill, but our teachers work with students to think critically, analyze information, and process conclusions to situations in all subject areas. Our teachers help students to build confidence in their abilities. A poem by Walter D. Wintle, a 19th-20th century poet summarizes,
If you think you are beaten, you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't
It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost,
For out in the world we find
Success being with a fellow's will;
It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are:
You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins

Barnes and Noble Favorite Teacher Contest WINNER: Diamond Fork JH is proud to announce that one of our students, Kynsie Hone, wrote a poem about her favorite teacher, submitted it to Barnes & Noble, and won! Kynsie nominated Mrs. Susan Moses as her favorite teacher! Congratulations, Mrs. Moses! The winning poem can be seen on our website at http://dfjhs.nebo.edu
Tabitha’s Way Clothing Donation Bins: DFJHS recently received the following note from Tabitha’s Way: “We at Tabitha’s Way want to thank you for your support by letting us place a bin at your school. With your support, we have been able to feed an average of 4,000 people a month. Attached is a press release that we hope you will share with the parents so they know about the clothing bin and how it helps those in need in our community. We calculate that for every 600 lbs. we gather, a family of four is fed for an entire week.
We also have clothing vouchers that we can provide for those students that are in need of clothing. Thanks again and please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

No School On Friday: Term 3 ends Thursday, March 19, 2015. Please remind your student to turn in missing work ASAP. There is no school on Friday, March 20, 2015.
Vaccine Clinics: If you have a student that will be attending 7th grade next year, there are new immunization requirements. Every 7th grader must receive these immunizations in order to attend school in Utah. (unless they have an exemption form on file.)
1 Tdap booster - must contain pertussis-Td not acceptable. (kindergarten dose does NOT count)
1 Meningococcal (meningitis) Vaccine
2 Varicella (chicken pox) Vaccines-history of disease is acceptable.
The School Nurses and Utah County Health Department have joined together to set up 3 immunization clinics. These clinics are open to everyone. We will be giving 7th grade,Kindergarten, and adult vaccines.

Thursday March 26th 3:00-5:00 Park Elementary School
Wed. April 1st 3:00-5:00 Mapleton Junior High School
Please bring your immunization record and insurance card.
Insurances accepted: Altius, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA, DMBA, Educators Mutual, Humana/Choice Care, Medicaid/Medicare, Molina, PEHP, Select Health, Select Health/CHIP, United Healthcare. For those without insurance under age 19, cost of shots is $16.00 each shot.
SPORTS
DFJHS Track & Field: For all those interested in running track at Diamond Fork, practice starts this Thursday Mar 19. Practice is held everyday at3:00. On Mondays and Thursdays we meet on the grass behind the school and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays we meet at the Spanish Fork Jr. track. MMHS Drill Tryouts: The Maple Mountain High School Drill Team will be holding tryouts for the 2015-16 team beginning on Monday, March 23 at 6 a.m. in the Maple Mountain High School main gym. All tryout information will be given that morning.
