Boys and Girls Basketball

Submitted by scott.buck on

Diamond Fork Junior High School has an excellent boys and girls basketball team.  Ninth grades students can play on the team and eighth grade students can serve as team managers.  To make it on the team students must attend three days of tryouts, and then coaches carefully select the specific girls and boys who are best qualified for the team.

The teams practice every weekday, and on the days they don’t have practice, they have a game. Each team averages 2 games every week. As of mid-December, the boys have played six games and the girls have played five.  They have about 15 games scheduled, so both teams are about ⅓ of the way through their seasons.  The season began in November and will end in February.

A member of the girls team commented, “Being on the basketball team is a really good experience for me.  I love how my skills as a player have grown."  Playing on these teams is a unique experience for these students, and they have been making the best of it.  Good luck this season!
