Latinos in Action

Latinos In Action is a class at Diamond Fork that allows Latino students an opportunity to serve the community and participate in many exciting activities.  Latinos In Action class president Florencia Ascensio has recently been buzy when she helped choreograph dances, brought in speakers, and organized and helped during parent night. She says that she has gained new leadership skills, and is happy seeing the group succeed, and taking Latinos in Action to the next level.

Class member Melanie Lopez commented that the group was like a family, working and cooperating together.  Every Tuesday and Thursday, rain or shine, the Latinos in Action class walks down to Park Elementary to tutor first graders. They help these students spell, count, and read their way to success.

For the next few months, Latinos in Action will be preparing for some exciting upcoming events, such as the Latinos in Action Conference. There, some of the members of LIA will be performing a Cumbia style dance.  They practice hard and do their best.  The conference will be held in March, and all members can’t wait for the day to come.  Thank you to the Latinos In Action for their great service!
