We need you in dance next year!
Over the last nine years, we have started a tradition of excellence in the dance program at Maple Mountain High School. Nearly 2000 students have performed with our dance classes and now it's your turn to be part of the tradition!
If you haven't signed up for a dance class next year, I strongly encourage you to consider adding one to your schedule. At Maple Mountain, we have six fantastic dance classes to choose from: Social Dance 1, Social Dance 2, and classes that are part of the State and National Core Curriculum for dance education Dance 1, Dance 2, Dance 3/Dance Excel, and Dance Company.
Social Dance 1 and 2 classes emphasize mastery of movement, quality and style in basic ballroom dance. Dance 1 and 2 are introductory and intermediate classes on different dance styles and dance techniques. These are all semester classes and will fill either Fine Arts or elective PE credit requirements.
Incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors are also invited to audition for Dance 3/Dance Excel and Dance Company, the most advanced performing dance groups here at Maple Mountain. These full year classes are designed to help students become better dancers, performers, and choreographers through the medium of creative, contemporary dance. The Dance Company (MMDC) and Dance Excel both perform in concerts, assemblies, and adjudications. For more information about auditions, and how to prepare, go to mmhsdance.weebly.com
