On Tuesday, September 22, 2015 the National Junior Honors Society and FFA groups went on a field trip to CLAS Ropes Course. We were split randomly into groups so we could meet new people if we didn’t already know them, and then we all went with a leader from CLAS. On the field trip we had many activities to do including a zip line, a giant swing, and team building activities such as getting everyone in your group from one part of the obstacle to the other using only stumps and 3 boards varying in length, and you couldn’t fall off, if you did you lost use of things. The log and board one was a very good team building activity because we all had to communicate and help. You had to pass the boards from one log to another and then see if it fit into notches between the two stumps, if it did you had to balance and walk across it, if not then you had to try the other ones. This one stood out to me because you couldn’t leave anyone alone or by themselves to figure it out, everyone pitched in, gave advice, held out their hands and helped. Best of all everyone was polite and nice.

After every activity we participated in with our group we would have a discussion within our group to talk about what skills we had to use and how those skills are useful in teamwork and working together anywhere. Many good comments were made and I’d say we all learned something. A lot of us braved fears too, some people were afraid of heights or falling, yet they still participated by braving their fears, I'm sure they’re glad they did it too. On the bus on the way back everyone was telling there friends what they did and how much fun they had. All in all the field trip was super fun, we had fun learning to work together and it was very beneficial to everyone.
