The National Junior Honors Society (NJHS) of Diamond Fork Junior High recently held a Special Olympics service project inspired by the president of the honors society Jonathan Tanner. Special needs students were placed into groups of 3-4 and chose a country to represent. Each of the NJHS students also picked a country and made individual posters for that student and their country so they could cheer on that student while competing in all of their events.
There were many fun activities like bowling, Oreo eating, cup stacking, ring toss, and ball toss. The students loved the games and loved competing with their team mates, and against other countries. While each of the students were competing in the games members of the NJHS tallied up the score of those who did the best in that certain event.
After each student finished every event the awards ceremony was held. They awarded each country and student who competed, and even gave out a medal to each of the students pointing out which event they performed best in. The kids enjoyed every minute of it and loved the attention they received. The NJHS looks forward to doing more service projects in the near future to help out their school and their community.
