November 25, 2014 Weekly Parent Newsletter

Dear Diamond Fork Parents,

Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher who once stated, “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” We witnessed this phenomenon over the past two weeks at DFJHS as students brought food and needed supplies to school in backpacks, grocery bags and even wagons.

Students filled our storage room one can at a time and created mountains of food. Our goal was to collect 25,000 items during the two-week period prior to Thanksgiving holiday. We collected 49,276 items and $4,020.00 in cash donations that will be used to purchase protein packed foods to fill in the pantry at Tabitha’s Way in Spanish Fork. The students contributed to the DFJHS core value of perseverance as we spread the idea of the power of one, the concept that one person can make a difference for themselves, their family, the community and the world.

Thank you to our students, staff and faculty, and families for your generous donations to help those less fortunate in our own community. You moved mountains this year!

Attendance Information: We have listed the following information to answer your attendance questions.

  • If your student gets marked absent or tardy, and you feel it was in error, please contact the teacher of that class as soon as possible. The teacher, not the attendance office, is responsible for removing or correcting attendance errors.
  • Please check your student’s SIS Student Summary at least weekly; to be sure absences and/or tardies have been cleared. In the Student Summary area, select “tardies” or “absences” to review your student’s attendance for the term. If you have questions about an attendance mark, please refer to the “Attendance Codes” at the bottom of the summary page.
  • Please remember all tardies and absences need to be cleared within “2” days!
  • NOTE: Absences and tardies will not clear until 24 hours AFTER the absence has been excused.

If you have any questions, please call our attendance secretary @ 801-798-4052. Thank you!
