Our 7th Graders Get HANDS ON in Learning about Organs!

Submitted by bart.thompson on

7th Grade science had the opportunity to interact with REAL ORGANS! The organs presented were: a heart, a pair of lungs, a trachea and a liver with a gallbladder. Pig organs are very similar to human organs. With organ shortages being the cause of 22 deaths everyday in the United States, this begs the question, "Would a xenograft (pig heart) be an option for YOU if you needed a heart transplant?" Students were excited, enthralled, troubled, amazed and thought their teachers were insane when they inflated the lungs to full size! In the end, we did not lose a single 7th grader! Go Diamondbacks!!
