Field Trip to ALC for Jr. High Girls: Attention all junior high aged girls and their parents - we have an awesome opportunity coming up on Tues, Dec 8. Nebo's Advanced Learning Center (ALC) in Springville is inviting 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls to their site in Springville to view a recently released documentary, CodeGirl. It is about a group of junior and senior high aged girls who make a difference in their community by writing apps and computer programs. The field trip is Tues, Dec 8, and will last all morning - buses will pick up girls here at Diamond Fork Junior High shortly after school begins and return them back to school in time for lunch and the remainder of the afternoon. This is a FREE field trip targeting girls who are either really interested in or just curious about computer science. Girls will view the film and have some popcorn, participate in a few activities, and have a chance to tour the ALC to see what programs and opportunities they can participate in during high school years. Interested girls can sign up for the field trip in the office (they will need a signed permission form available at the office). We need to know if you or your student is interested by Thurs, Dec 3.
Parent Teacher Conference Information: We will be holding our second parent teacher conference this term on December 16th from 3:00-6:00pm. We will send more information relating to this conference in the next week. Please mark this date if you wish to attend and meet with any of your student’s teachers.
National Junior Honor Society: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! Our National Jr. Honor Society thanks all of you who have donated supplies or money to our Emergency Kit project. Fresh Market donated 10 cases of water and our 4H Service Club has donated supplies, shopped and delivered items for us. We are still in need of a number of items. If many people donate a little it will all add up to kits that will sustain our student body for a period of time in an Emergency situation. Please check the link below to see what we are still in need of. We update it after every donation. Christmas Dance Eligibility: DFJHS Christmas dance will be Thursday, December 10th. To qualify to go to the dance all detentions, including tardies, sluffs and AFT’s will need to be served. Deadline to serve detentions will be Tuesday, December 8th. Students can go to the homework lab (#25) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to serve detentions. Students must get a note from the teacher in the homework lab with the date and amount of time served and give to Mrs. Wilde or Mrs. Diamond in the front office to count towards detention. There are also two rooms in the office where you can serve every day after school on a first come, first serve basis.
Nebo 4-H Afterschool Clubs: Fall clubs will be wrapping up soon. Watch for new clubs soon!
Food Drive Totals: 45,989 items - $3,929. Wow, thank you for making the food drive a huge success! Many local families will benefit from your generosity in donations.
School Community Council: Our next DFJHS SCC meeting will be held December 9, 2015 at 3:00 in the counseling office conference room. Anyone is welcome to attend and your input is invited and welcome.
