Girl's Basketball

Submitted by scott.buck on

The girl’s ninth grade basketball team at Diamond Fork recently held basketball tryouts and selected 12 team members.  The decision was very difficult.  For the last three years the Diamond Fork girl's basketball team has won the district championship.  Unfortunately, injuries constantly threaten the team’s potential.  Of course there are ways to prevent such injuries, but such precautions are not always practiced - just like children riding bikes who do not wear helmets or knee pads.

Upcoming Musical

Submitted by scott.buck on

Every year students at Diamond Fork Junior High School audition for the school musical. This year's school musical is “The Little Mermaid.”  Last year’s musical “Beauty and the Beast” was amazing, with excellent actors and props. It was a huge success with gigantic crowds attending every night. The musical was very similar to the movie, with all of the excitement and more - including some very funny moments.

Journalism Class Visits KSL

Submitted by scott.buck on

Journalism students at Diamond Fork Junior High recently visited the studios of KSL TV, and the radio stations FM 100 and Arrow 103.5.  Students were able to talk with reporters and ask them questions about a career in journalism.  Students were even invited into the broadcasting booth of FM100, and were present as the DJ broadcast live on the air.  After investigating the working environments of professional journalists, students were also able to watch live filming of the KSL News At Noon program.

Because of the amazing support of our students, faculty, and community the 2012 Diamond Fork Junior High food drive was a huge success.  Our school raised 53,576 food items for the Utah Valley Emergency Food Bank - which includes over $4,400 of cash donations.  We more than doubled our school goal of 25,000 items, and we set a new school record for the most items ever donated!

The food bank would like to sincerely thank everyone at our school for participating.  Here is the final tally of the top 10 fifth period classes:
