Diamond Fork Parents,
All in for Each Learner
Diamond Fork Parents,
When it comes to lending a helping hand or taking the time to really get to know students, Mr. Peterson comes to mind. He is one example of our mission to think critically, live responsibly and lead ethically. On this particular day, he helps our office aids update the marquee. Thank you, Mr. Peterson.
“The World Would Be A Better Place If…” How would you finish that phrase? This was the theme of the 2014-2015 PTA Reflections Contest. Reflections is a nationwide program that welcomes, free of charge, students from all grades and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Thousands of students reflect on a theme and create an original work in one of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts.
Have you heard? The Zombie Apocalypse came to DFJHS and the Girls' PE classes SURVIVED! Girls' PE teacher Kasey Larson set up a "Zombie Obstacle Course" in the gymnasium where girls had to race through virtual darkness and avoid being overtaken by the zombies throughout the course. The girls were frightened and thrilled at the same time and all made it through! Thanks to Miss Larson for her innovative ideas to keep students moving!
At Diamond Fork Junior High School our core values are respect, compassion, courage, integrity and perseverance.
How can we see just how immense our solar system is? Well, Miss Hanks’ Earth Systems class figured out a way. They built a scale model in the front foyer of the school and lined up the planets in relation to the sun. They used science and math to form the scale model from actual distances of those planets. The students were able to do and see for themselves the colossal size of our piece of the universe.
Congratulations to our Halloween Haiku Contest winners! Best Overall Haiku goes to Justin Drollinger who received a $10 Cold Stone Creamery gift card.

Last week DFJHS Agriculture teacher Mrs. Draper had some fun with her Veterinary Assistant class when they were able to learn more about horse care. Mrs. Draper brought two of her horses to school! The students were able to gain hands on experience with the horses as Mrs. Draper and our principal, Mr. Peterson gave them valuable information. Thanks, Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Draper!
The Diamond Fork Cross Country Team finished off an amazing season at districts.
The FFA (Future Farmers of America) at Diamond Fork is an agricultural class that leads students to a career path in farming and agriculture. Future Farmers of America was founded by a group of farmers in 1928, their original mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding the growing nation. Today they are still called Future Farmers of America, but the official name was changed to FFA in 1988. Today they have expanded to other areas in agriculture like biology, chemistry, veterinary, and engineering.
